Diesel is an Italian design company and can rightly claim to be one of the major influences and innovators within the denim industry over the past 30 years. Diesel was founded by Renzo Russo in 1978 in Molvena, Italy and in 2009 alone the brand raked in a whopping €1.3 billion.
Renzo claims that the reason his brand is so successful is that he learnt marketing from America, creativity from Italy and the fashion systems from Germany. Overall Diesel clothing has 6,000 employees in 18 countries ranging from Europe, Asia and America. The products are available in 5,000 retail outlets and they cater to men, women and children around the world.
Diesel clothing have managed to brand and market themselves in a very unique and niche way by collaborating with huge companies such as; Fiat, AGV, Monster, Ducati and many other famous brands to launch things such as; cars, motorbikes, headphones and helmets. They are also the first clothing company to market their clothing in video games.
Diesel clothing’s unique outlook on marketing also greatly effects their attitude towards creating and designing clothing. Diesel Jeans tore up the rule book, distancing themselves from the stale American products and brand by experimenting with cuts, fits and distressed finishes to create at that time, a revolutionary product.
