Converse Trainers is most famous for its line of All-Star basketball shoes. Chuck Taylors, or \"Chucks,\" have become an icon of shoe fashion over the past several decades. The style has been prominently featured in many movies and sponsored by several high-profile athletes. Converse has also released \"The Weapon\" line of shoes on three separate occasions. The original version was sponsored by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, and Kobe Bryant famously wore \"The Weapon\" for three games during the 2002-2003 NBA season. Several special editions of Converse trainers have been released including DC comics, The Who, and HIV/AIDS themes. In 2003, Converse was purchased by Nike for $305 million.
