Barbour began in 1894 in the Market Place in South Shields situated in the North East of England. Originally the designs were created to withstand the tough climate conditions for industrial workers and provide outerwear for fishermen and farmers. The brand soon branched out to the rest of the public with their unique and high quality collection.
Barbour clothing now has 11 of its own retail shops in the UK and, a presence in over 40 countries worldwide including Germany, Holland, Austria, France, America, Spain, Japan and many more. The brand discovered there was a large increase in sales and awareness since it started to target the fashion sector with its range of Barbour Jackets for women and men and there are now over 2,000 products which cater for men, women and children.
